Rally for the Cure Tennis Tournament

"Rally for the Cure" Tournament at MITC September 25, 2010

MITC hosted a benefit tournament for "Rally for the Cure" to further breast cancer awareness on Saturday, September 25th.

Both MITC members and non-members living in local communities joined in the competition for women's doubles and men's doubles. Fun rivalry prevailed with everyone coming out a "winner"!

The teams garnering the most points were:

Women's "A" Division: Mary Lesser and Kay Sherman

Women's "B" Division: Karin Finlay and Sandy Hamilton

Men's "A" Division: Mike Blanchette and Dave Delworth

Men's "B" Division: Dick and Mark Fernald

Linda Greenwood, Chairman of the event, reports that all went very well. "We were happy that people played who are not members of MITC, so that they could experience the friendliness of our club as well as learn more about our facility. We are looking forward to hosting another tennis tournament next year."

Awards were presented to "Mr Pinkie" and "Ms Pinkie" - the two that wore the most pink in their outfits. Mike Young won the male award and Sara Spittel the female with Bobbie Nyland a close second. Congrats!

We would like to thank Nadia MacStay for organizing the draw, Mary Lesser for presenting an outstanding luncheon menu (and her "assistants chefs") and Kirsten Peterson who registered players and also to Cheri Fry for donating door prizes. Tami Vezina and Barry Echavaria also donated a lesson as a prize and John Morin a racquet stringing.
